Profile

Peter Young helped to establish the Centre for Resource and Environmental Studies at the Australian National University as its Head of Environmental Systems (1975-81); whilst Head of Environmental Science Department at Lancaster (1981-87), the Department received the highest grading in both the Earth Science Review (one of only two multi-disciplinary Departments to receive this grading) and the first National Research Assessment Exercise; proposed and helped plan the establishment of the Institute of Environmental and Biological Sciences (1987); established the Centre for Research on Environmental Systems and Statistics (initially Centre for Research on Environmental Systems: acronym CRES retained), 1987; helped establish the Lancaster Centre for Forecasting (LFC) with Prof. Fildes, 1992.
